ANU student Jordan Qian

"I like that flexible double degrees at ANU let you combine law with virtually any other subject. I'm doing a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Asian Studies . The ANU Asian Studies faculty is really well renowned and given our growing relations with Asia, I think this degree combination will set me up for the future.

I'm from Canberra but I live at Bruce Hall . I spent first year living at home, but I felt like an element of my university experience was missing, so I decided to live on campus and I absolutely love it! I really like being a part of the culture at Bruce Hall.

There's a really great culture and community amongst the students and academics at ANU. You have access to fantastic academics here, and national institutions like the High Court of Australia and Parliament are literally on your doorstep. The other day I was sitting in the foyer of the law faculty and a High Court Justice strolled in. What other uni has a judge on the High Court just wander in?

We have so many opportunities at ANU — sometimes it's hard to balance them all. In semester two, I'm looking forward to the Australian National Internship Program (ANIP) . ANU is the only university in Australia to offer parliamentary internships. Over the break, I'm heading to Italy to do another internship at a corporate law firm. I really enjoy my law degree, so I'm pretty sure I'll end up practising law somewhere.”
