This qualification is part of the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package. It covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of servicing operations on light vehicles, heavy vehicles and/or motorcycles within an automotive service or repair business.

About Automotive Institute of Technology IncorporatedEstablished in 1990, the Motor Industry Training Association of WA is a Registered Training Organisation. Late in 2012 the Board's of MITA and MTA WA decided the needs of the WA industry would be best met if the two organisations were to merge. The consolidation became effective on 28 May 2013 and MITA was rebranded as the MTA WA's Automotive Institute of Technology Incorporated. The individual registered training organisations were retained but now work cooperatively together to offer the WA industry a choice between employer-based or classroom-based teaching options. AIT target groups/clients are individuals who are currently employed, are in a school based VET programme and or seeking employment within the automotive industry in WA. AIT also provides traineeships and apprentice training in automotive mechanical, auto body repair and auto refinishing disciplines.
