This qualification is part of the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package. It reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of tasks on tyres in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.
Subjects you can Study
Core: Use and maintain tools and equipment in an automotive workplace; Follow safe working practices in an automotive workplace; Identify basic automotive faults using troubleshooting processes; Follow environmental and sustainability best practice in an automotive workplace. Specialist: Light vehicle tyres; Heavy vehicle tyres; Agricultural tyres; Earthmoving and Off-the-road tyres. General electives: Remove, inspect and refit motorcycle wheel and tyre assemblies; Carry out servicing operations; Remove, inspect and refit wheel hubs and associated brake components; Inspect and service petrol fuel systems; plus more.
About Automotive Institute of Technology IncorporatedEstablished in 1990, the Motor Industry Training Association of WA is a Registered Training Organisation. Late in 2012 the Board's of MITA and MTA WA decided the needs of the WA industry would be best met if the two organisations were to merge. The consolidation became effective on 28 May 2013 and MITA was rebranded as the MTA WA's Automotive Institute of Technology Incorporated. The individual registered training organisations were retained but now work cooperatively together to offer the WA industry a choice between employer-based or classroom-based teaching options. AIT target groups/clients are individuals who are currently employed, are in a school based VET programme and or seeking employment within the automotive industry in WA. AIT also provides traineeships and apprentice training in automotive mechanical, auto body repair and auto refinishing disciplines.
