This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to undertake an apprenticeship in the engineering trades or with the foundation for professional engineering roles. It also enables participants to make a more informed choice of vocation or career path.

Core: Apply principles of OHS in a work environment; Organise and communicate information; Interact with computing technology; Use hand tools; Use power tools/hand held operations; Develop an individual career plan for the engineering industry; Perform computations; Produce basic engineering sketches and drawings; plus more. Electives: Perform basic machining processes; Apply basic fabrication techniques; Create engineering drawings using computer-aided systems; Set up basic pneumatic circuits; Configure and program a basic robotic system; plus more.

Fabrication engineering tradespersons cut, shape, join and finish metal to make, maintain or repair metal products and structures. They may produce moulds or patterns for metal castings, apply coatings and work with a variety of materials.
