This qualification is part of the Retail Services Training Package. It provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring basic retail operational knowledge and limited practical skills in a defined context. Work would be undertaken in various retail food outlets. Individuals may work with some autonomy or in a team but usually under close supervision.

Originally established as a tertiary institution in 1974, it became the Northern Territory University in 1989 and the Charles Darwin University in 2003.

The three main sites for delivery will be at the main ACIKE Hub CDU Casuarina campus and at the BIITE campuses at Batchelor and the Alice Springs Desert Peoples' Centre.
