This qualification is part of the Community Services Training Package. It addresses work primarily in residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans. It is the standard entry qualification for workers in this sector and will introduce individuals to all aspects of a carer's role including personal care, well-being and assistance with daily activities. Individuals involved in this type of work need the physical capacity to deal with personal care and must demonstrate genuine compassion and empathy towards others.

About Laverton Community Education CentreEstablished in 1974, Laverton Community Education Centre is a Registered Training Organisation located in the heart of Melbourne's western suburbs, just 5 minutes from Laverton train station. It has been offering quality training and education to the community for 40 years. The Education Centre is the training arm for the Laverton Community Integrated Services Inc. which is a not for profit community organisation and together with the Laverton Community Centre and Laverton Community Children's Centre, aims to provide a holistic services to assist participants to achieve their potential. Students has access to a Children's Centre with long day care, alternative care, toy library, playgroups and kindergarten as well as community centre crisis intervention services and health and wellbeing programs. Life after Study
Aged care workers provide care, supervision and support for aged people in residential establishments, clinics, hospitals and private residence. Aged care workers assist with the maintenance of personal care, domestic duties and management of illness. They also provide companionship and emotional support, and promote independence and community participation.
