This qualification is part of the Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package. It provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture. The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production or cropping context as a job focus or, in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both.

About Rural Industries Skill Training Centre IncorporatedEstablished in 1992, Rural Industries Skill Training Centre Inc is a Registered Training Organisation located in Hamilton, Victoria. RIST initially delivered specialist training for Victorian wool producers, but now delivers training covering a wide range of topics relevant to the rural community throughout Australia. Training is available in areas including agricultural production, cattle and sheep management, pasture management, animal nutrition, cropping, marketing, risk management, OHS, wool classing, shearing, animal health and natural resource management. RIST contracts industry experts to present training at a location to suit the course participant. The traineeship program includes the Certificate II through to Certificate IV in Agriculture, and the Diploma of Agriculture program is conducted from the Hamilton centre. RTO code: 4198
