This qualification is part of the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package. It provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring autonomous work within a defined range of situations and activities in an aquatic setting. Qualification outcomes will depend on the specialisation chosen and include swimming teaching, pool lifeguard and pool operations. Work would be undertaken in locations such as aquatic facilities or environments, and indoor recreation facilities under some supervision.

About MSAC Institute of TrainingEstablished in 2006 and specialising in improving the professionalism within the Sports, Fitness and Recreation industry, MSAC Institute of Training (MIT) is Registered Training Organisation providing real job outcomes. Their students are staff of the State Sport Centres Trust including MSAC, State Netball and Hockey Centre and Lakeside Stadium however their doors are open to all those wanting a job or career in the industry. They provide a limited amount of traineeships to the trust as well as work placement for their students. Successful trainees will work in their state of the art facilities providing the perfect grounds to gain hands-on experience. The Institute also offers compliance training to ensure students maintain a high level of professional standards.
