This qualification is part of the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package. It reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of tasks on a variety of diesel engines and associated systems in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

Core: Inspect and service engines; Follow safe working practices in an automotive workplace; Carry out diagnostic procedures; Recondition engine cylinder heads; Assemble engine blocks and sub-assemblies; Dismantle and evaluate engine blocks and sub-assemblies; Use and maintain tools and equipment in an automotive workplace; Test and repair basic electrical circuits; plus more. Electives: Diagnose and repair compression ignition engine management systems; Remove and install heavy vehicle engine assemblies; Inspect and service diesel fuel injection systems; Test engines using a dynamometer; Inspect and service CNG fuel systems; plus more.
