This qualification is part of the Community Services Training Package. Workers in this area carry out activities under direct or regular supervision to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people with a disability in the community and/or residential facilities. These workers: carry out activities related to an individualised plan; report directly to a supervisor; and are not responsible for other workers.

Life after Study
Disability support workers provide care, supervision and support for people with disabilities in the home, residential establishments, clinics and hospitals. They also work with other health professionals to maximise the individual's physical and mental wellbeing. They also provide companionship and emotional support, and when possible promote independence and community participation.
