This qualification is part of the Community Services Training Package. It addresses work in client homes and other community settings under regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans. These workers: carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people in their own homes or in other community settings; carry out activities related to an individualised plan; report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers.

Life after Study
Aged care workers provide care, supervision and support for aged people in residential establishments, clinics, hospitals and private residence. Aged care workers assist with the maintenance of personal care, domestic duties and management of illness. They also provide companionship and emotional support, and promote independence and community participation.
Disability support workers provide care, supervision and support for people with disabilities in the home, residential establishments, clinics and hospitals. They also work with other health professionals to maximise the individual's physical and mental wellbeing. They also provide companionship and emotional support, and when possible promote independence and community participation.
