This qualification is part of the Animal Care and Management Training Package. It is for persons operating within an organisation that provides professional pet grooming services. A pet grooming attendant undertakes salon reception and housekeeping duties as well as bathing, brushing, trimming and other basic grooming services for domestic pets, usually dogs and in some cases cats. It is highly recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification, the individual has access to a workplace that provides pet grooming services through either paid employment or work placement.
Subjects you can Study
Core: Work effectively in the companion animal industry; Provide grooming services for companion animal comfort; Provide companion animal hydro-bathing services; Complete animal care hygiene routines; Provide basic first aid for animals; Maintain and monitor animal health and wellbeing; Perform dog grooms on different coat types; Perform a cross breed clip; Comply with infection control policies and procedures in animal care work; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices; Contribute to workplace health and safety processes. Electives: Assist with conditioning animals; Provide basic care of dogs; Provide enrichment for animals; Capture, handle and transport companion animals; plus more.
