This qualification is part of the Metal and Engineering Training Package. Students will gain the competencies required by a tradesperson working at higher levels in the manufacturing, engineering or related industries. This course is for people who want to specialise in CNC programming. They will acquire skills and knowledge in workplace communication, occupational health and safety, quality procedures systems and planning, engineering measurement, computations and computer technology plus some industry-specific skills in welding, boilermaking, metal casting, patternmaking, metal machining, maintenance and diagnostics and electrotechnology that are relevant to students' current or intended employment.

Electricians install, maintain, repair, test and commission electrical and electronic equipment and systems for industrial, commercial and domestic purposes. Electricians may also work on electrical transmission and distribution equipment.
Fabrication engineering tradespersons cut, shape, join and finish metal to make, maintain or repair metal products and structures. They may produce moulds or patterns for metal castings, apply coatings and work with a variety of materials.
