This qualification is part of the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package. It reflects the role of skilled operators who use a broad range of hospitality service, sales or operational skills combined with supervisory skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to plan, monitor and evaluate the work of team members. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others, and use discretion to solve non-routine problems. It provides a pathway to work as a supervisor in hospitality settings such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes, and coffee shops. It allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage, and gaming.

Life after Study
Bar attendants prepare and mix drinks, serving customers in hotels, bars, cafes, restaurants, clubs and other licensed entertainment venues.
Baristas prepare and serve espresso coffee and other hot beverages to patrons in restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and dining establishments.
Gaming workers provide gamblers with gaming services in casinos and other gambling establishments.
Hotel and motel front office attendants look after the needs of guests on arrival and during their stay in a hotel or motel.
Porters carry luggage for guests in hotels and motels, and for passengers in transport terminals. They also show guests to their rooms, berths or cabins, and provide other guest services.
Room attendants clean and maintain rooms in hotels, motels and other places of accommodation.
