Many fast food cooks are employed on a part-time or casual basis. They spend most of their time on their feet and are usually required to work staggered shifts to fit in with business hours. Uniforms are usually provided and protective clothing, such as aprons and closed shoes, may need to be worn. With experience and further training, qualified cooks may be promoted to supervisory positions.
