Certificate IV in Interior Decoration

Academy of Design

This qualification is part of the Furnishing Training Package. It describes the skills and knowledge required to provide advice and practical assistance on the finishing and furnishing of existing interior spaces to meet client requirements. Decoration at this level includes residential or commercial environments and involves working directly with the client or with associated professionals, such as architects, builders, retailers, interior designers and suppliers required to implement a project.

19 units: 8 core; 11 elective

Core: Explore and apply the creative design process to 2D forms; Explore and apply the creative design process to 3D forms; Produce drawings to communicate ideas; Produce technical drawings; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices; Research, analyse and apply colour for interior spaces; Decorate residential interiors; Determine WHS implications of interior effects. Electives: Articulate, present and debate ideas; Explore the use of colour; Source and apply information on the history and theory of design; Generate design solutions; Develop and extend design skills and practice; plus more.
