This is a professional doctorate combining coursework and research. It aims to develop expert innovative Christian leaders who have a substantial critical understanding of contemporary approaches to theology and praxis and who, through advanced engagement with current research in the field leading to an externally examined research thesis, are able to make a significant and original contribution to ministry practice. The program is designed so that students may tailor their study and research to their particular interests in ministry practice.

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor of Ministry with Honours, or Master of Ministry or equivalent qualification; plus 3 years' relevant ministry experience

Structure:

108 credit point degree is normally studied part-time over 6 years. Students complete coursework, guided reading and community research folios. A Ministry Practice Thesis of 54 credit points, which is externally examined, completes the degree.

Adelaide College of Divinity (ACD)'s students develop the willingness and the ability to examine critically the Christian theological tradition and bring that tradition into dialogue with the issues of contemporary society including: the plurality of Australian life and culture, especially the diversity of its spiritual and religious expressions, and of the opportunities for conversation and dialogue that this offers to Christian theology, ministry and mission; and the ethical and social justice issues engaging Church and society.

ACD offers tertiary theological education, and encourages students from a wide range of religious backgrounds to study at ACD. They provide professional and academic preparation for ministry, with strong integration of practice and theory. The ACD provides Higher Education and VET courses.

The ACD Campus is a place where people meet to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith, to develop skills in ministry or to pursue higher academic study within a lively research community.
