This qualification is part of the Metal and Engineering Training Package. The apprenticeship provides broad-based skills and knowledge to work as a tradesperson in the metal and engineering industries. Specialist areas include toolmaking, maintenance, CNC and fluid power. The Certificate allows a trade classification of Engineering Tradesperson Level 1.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education; employed in relevant field plus training contract and adequate literacy and numeracy skills; or registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre

Structure:

11 core units; plus minimum 10 stream units; plus specialist units

Core: Perform engineering measurements; Perform computations; Apply principles of OHS in the work environment; Plan to undertake a routine task; Plan a complete activity; Apply quality systems; Apply quality procedures; Organise and communicate information; Work with others in a manufacturing, engineering or related environment; Interact with computing technology; Assist in the provision of on-the-job training. Streams: Perform precision shaping/planning/slotting operations; Perform lathe operations; Set computer-controlled machines/processes; Program NC/CNC machining centre; Manufacturing system; plus more and specialist units.

AiGTS offers training in the areas of engineering, manufacturing, management, business, administration, customer contact, health and safety, warehousing operations, transport and logistics and process manufacturing. A job placement service into apprenticeships and traineeships is also available through a Group Training Scheme at the AiGroup Training Services. Apprenticeship and Traineeships positions are available in the fields of engineering, administration, mechanical, customer engagement, work health and safety, leadership & management, process manufacturing, competitive systems and practices, flooring technology, driving operations, warehousing and logistics. Training and assessment is conducted on site or online.
