This program is suitable for those who want a career combining nutrition science and human health. Nutritional Medicine practitioners have a strong understanding of how nutritional, dietary and lifestyle factors impact wellbeing throughout our lifespan. They develop treatment plans for their patients to improve their health and wellbeing, and seek to educate individuals or community members on the impact of food choices in the maintenance of wellbeing and management of disease. Students will develop an understanding of nutritional science, including food constituents, contaminants, food law and policy, food pharmacy and therapeutic supplements as well as lifespan nutrition and public health, enabling them to provide holistic therapeutic treatment plans. Students will also learn biological sciences, covering the biomedical sciences all healthcare professionals must understand, such as anatomy and physiology, bioscience, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology and clinical diagnosis.
Structure
- Includes 9 study periods of 12 weeks duration (excluding breaks). Involves lectures, tutorials, seminars, demonstrations, supervised clinical practice and self-directed study. Involves guided self-study. 340 hours of Supervised Clinical Practicum. Human nutrition, Nutritional science, Food packaging, Public health nutrition, Biological and social sciences

- Students without a science background may be required to complete a bridging course before commencing study
