This comprehensive double degree helps you stand out from the crowd and lends a competitive edge. You will develop an understanding of modern business with sound commercial knowledge, as well as the skills to become a legal practitioner and specialise in areas such as forensic accounting, company law, or property law just to name a few. As part of your business foundation you will learn through gamified business simulations based on real-world situations. You will also learn to understand core business terms and concepts and discover how operations and finance decisions support organisations. For your legal studies, we are committed to helping you become a confident, ethical lawyer with the skills and knowledge to make a real contribution to the legal profession. You will have an opportunity to join mooting competitions, take part in the analysis of complex cases and law, and put it all into practice with pro bono work while you study.

Structure

400 credit points. You will complete 80 hours pro bono experience (after your first year) which will count as credit for a compulsory community engagement unit (10 cp).

Standard entry requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent.

Recognition

This course has been specifically developed to meet the requirements for admission to practice law. The course has been approved for admission to practice law in Victoria and New South Wales, and is recognised for admission as a legal practitioner in other States and Territories in Australia.

This double degree is designed to produce well-rounded graduates ready for legal practice and a wide range of professional careers in an increasingly global environment. Graduates can pursue a range of legal careers including: private legal practice as a solicitor or barrister; legal officer in the public sector (for example in federal or state government departments and publicly-funded organisations such as universities or public broadcasters); in-house counsel to a wide range of organisations from corporations to trade unions; public interest legal work in community legal centres; and legal research. This double degree is also excellent preparation for pursuing a career in areas such as accounting, administration, banking, business analysis/development, business management, communications, computing, financial management, human resource management, international business, international marketing, management consultancy, marketing recruitment, staff development, and sales.
