Create your own unique career path whilst honing your communication skills as part of your commerce specialisations. We start with four key foundation units (managing money, people, markets and working with IT) which prepare you for whatever area of business you wish to pursue. Study commerce and you can tailor your degree to open up career opportunities in accounting and finance to marketing, event management, informatics and human resources. Other specialisations include data analytics, entrepreneurship, IT, Indigenous business studies, international business, informatics, and occupational health, safety and environment.

Structure

240 credit points. Students may elect to enrol in a Professional Experience unit involving professional placement within a business organisation (in the relevant discipline area) over a period of 105 hours.

Standard entry requirements

  • To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent. New South Wales Prerequisites: English (Advanced or Standard) (Band 2) or English (EAL) (Band 3)
  • Queensland Prerequisites: English (3 & 4, C)
  • Victoria Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English.

Recognition

The Accounting major is recognised by the CPA (Certified Practicing Accountants) Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Institute of Public Accountants. The Human Resources major is recognised by the Australian Human Resources Institute. The Bachelor of Commerce has been EPAS accredited with the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) for three years (2017-2020).
