Graduate Diploma of Education - Secondary / Graduate Certificate in Education - Religious

This Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) and the Graduate Certificate in Religious Education program is specifically designed to assist students to meet accreditation requirements to teach Religious Education in Catholic schools in addition to their other teaching areas.

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor degree or equivalent; background studies in 2 curriculum and teaching study areas or 1 double curriculum and teaching study area; QLD Prerequisite: 15 weeks of community and school-based professional experience including supervised teaching and observation in the classroom; suitability card is required. These are: Blue Card (QLD); Working with Vulnerable People (ACT) or Working with Children Check (NSW and VIC). International students must bring police check documentation from their own countries.


120 credit points. Students must complete a minimum of 60 days professional experience.

Students are required to participate in professional experience placements. In order to participate students must ensure they are able to successfully complete the child protection screening required in their state. Students who are not cleared for working with children, and therefore not be able to be placed, will not be able to complete their course. Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. Australian students who have lived in another country for 12 months or more must provide a police check from that country for that period.
