Graduate Diploma of Paramedicine

This program aims to expand paramedic skills with evidence-based knowledge enabling immediate application/translation in the workplace. Graduates should be able to: evaluate issues and challenges confronting paramedic practice, conceptualise new and creative approaches to clinical practice to support service delivery in culturally diverse health care contexts; understand and use innovative solutions in contemporary health care; connect theory, practice and research with regard to paramedic practice; contribute to values based professional practice in dynamic and challenging environments.

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor degree in Paramedicine or equivalent; or a Graduate Certificate in Paramedicine; evidence of engagement with an Ambulance Service, in a paid or voluntary capacity, either currently or within the last 5 years

Study Pathways:

Graduates may be eligible to undertake the Master of Paramedicine. Graduates may also be eligible to undertake other postgraduate programs within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Graduates will be able to apply their theoretical and practical learning in a range of paramedic settings. In the course of their employment, they may undertake a range of roles including: Advanced Care Paramedic; Intensive Care Paramedic; Aeromedical Paramedic; Team Manager; Area Manager; Group Manager; Specialist Manager; Clinical Instructor; Communications Paramedic Roster or Scheduling Paramedic; Clinical Education Specialist.
