Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement

Established in 1996, The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement (ACGB) is an independent, not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation that works to address issues associated with grief and bereavement in order to strengthen the capacity of individuals, organisations and communities to support the bereaved. In addition to the Bereavement Counselling and Support Service the Centre offers a range of community education, professional development courses as well as the nationally recognised Graduate Certificate in Bereavement Counselling and Intervention course. This course aims to provide current and appropriate education and training in theoretical frameworks, practical skill applications and personal and professional integration deemed essential for the provision of effective bereavement counselling. The Centre also offers a Bereavement Support online course. The Certificate IV in Bereavement Support course, is a nationally recognised, VET qualification. The course content is offered completely online and is expected to take 12 months to complete. The course is designed for those who have a role in providing bereavement and loss support. The skills and knowledge provided by the course may be for a specific bereavement support job role or complement other job roles, such as those of nurses, aged care workers, teachers and social workers.
