This qualification is part of the Health Training Package. It reflects the role of enrolled nurses with advanced skills who work in a specialised area of nursing practice. At this level, enrolled nurses integrate and adapt specialised, technical and theoretical knowledge to address a diverse range of clinical situations and challenges in their area of specialisation. They contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical practice using research and participation in broader organisational quality processes. Enrolled nurses retain responsibility for their own actions while remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse/Midwife for all delegated functions.

Entry Requirements:

Currently working in Australia as an enrolled nurse; hold current registration as an enrolled nurse without notation with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia

Structure:

10 units: 3 core; 7 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Conduct clinical assessments; Contribute to the improvement of clinical practice; Research and report on nursing trends and practice. Specialist: Acute care; Aged care and Individual support; Critical care; Mental health; Perioperative; Renal care; Rural and remote. Plus general electives.

In 2012, Royal College of Nursing, Australia and The College of Nursing unified to become the Australian College of Nursing. The Australian College of Nursing is a higher education and VET provider and a peak body representing nurses nationally and internationally.

Courses are developed in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders, including speciality nursing organisations, chief nurses, government bodies, clinicians, universities and Australian and international health organisations.
