There are three streams including general paediatric, paediatric emergency and paediatric intensive care, which share core subjects but have unique specialty subjects and a choice of elective subjects. This course aims to improve your specialty paediatric knowledge base and prepare you for professional advancement within paediatric nursing.

Structure

The course is conducted online and consists of 4 subjects, including core, specialty, and your choice of elective subject. There are 4 terms/year of 10 weeks, each subject is equivalent to 150hrs of learning, or 6 credit points, and there are no clinical placements required. The usual course progression is 12 months, however you can extend this period provided you complete within 3 years of commencement.

Entry requirements

  • Registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency plus 1 year s postgraduate experience, plus employment in the relevant clinical area, for example, to apply for the Paediatric emergency Stream you must be working in a paediatric emergency department, or an adult ED that has paediatric casemix.
