This qualification is part of the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. It reflects the role of employees such as senior drillers working in an on shore oil/gas context. They perform tasks involving a broad range of varied activities most of which are complex and non-routine. They are responsible for the quantity and quality of the output of others and contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems.

12 units: 8 core; 4 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Develop teams and individuals; Maintain standard procedures and safe working practices; Control emergencies and critical situations; Rig up, conduct pre-spud operations and rig down; Participate in nippling-up and pressure test; Conduct drilling operations; Carry out well control and blow out prevention; Apply risk management processes. Electives: Apply effective coal seam gas control practices; Manage oil and gas drilling equipment maintenance; Coordinate air drilling operations; plus more.
