This qualification is part of the Community Services Training Package. It is for those with an existing interest in conflict management, problem solving methodologies or alternative dispute resolution, and those who already work with couples, families or children in areas including families in conflict, separation or divorce, or families experiencing complex difficulties. The program was developed in response to changes in the family law system and new and extended services for families. It delivers the foundation to work in a variety of settings in providing family dispute resolution services and interventions for families experiencing high levels of relationship conflict, and may be involved in the Family Law System. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to mediate families within the legislative framework.

10 units: 6 core; 4 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Respond to family domestic violence in family work; Operate in a Family Law environment; Facilitate dispute resolution in a family law context; Implement dispute resolution strategies; Facilitate family dispute resolution in an impartial manner and adhere to ethical standards; Create a supportive environment for safety of vulnerable parties in dispute resolution. Plus electives.
