This qualification is part of the Information and Communications Technology Training Package. It provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a wide range of general information and communications technology (ICT) technical functions and to achieve a degree of self-sufficiency as an advanced ICT user. Persons working at this level will support information technology activities in the workplace across a wide range of ICT areas, including technical support, network administration, web technologies, software applications and digital media technologies.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education. Prerequisite unit: Follow work health and safety environmental policy and procedures if undertaking Work safely with live fibre to test and commission a fibre to the x installation.

Structure:

17 units: 6 core; 5 specialist; 6 elective

Core: Participate effectively in WHS communication and consultation processes; Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices; Work and communicate effectively in an ICT environment; Create user documentation; Install and optimise operating system software; Run standard diagnostic tests. Specialist: Applications; Network administration; Support; Web technologies. Plus electives.
