Diploma of Dance - Elite Performance

This qualification is part of the Creative Arts and Culture Training Package. It reflects the role of dancers working or aspiring to work in professional dance companies. At this level individuals are expected to apply theory and creative skills in a range of situations and to display initiative and judgement in planning activities. They have autonomy in performing complex technical operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.

Entry Requirements:

An audition or other form of evidence where the candidate demonstrates competence in at least one dance style at Certificate IV level


17 units: 9 core; 8 elective

Core: Refine ballet technique; Refine ballet performance skills; Refine contemporary dance technique; Refine dance partnering technique; Refine performance techniques; Prepare for performances in a competitive environment; Incorporate anatomy and nutrition principles into skill development; Maintain a high level of fitness for performance; Develop own sustainable professional practice. Electives: Create and perform complex dance pieces; Perform ballet solo variations; Apply theatrical make-up and hairstyles; Participate in gym and weight training for performances; Plan and organise dance classes; plus more.

Established in 2014, Australian Performing Arts Network is a Registered Training Organisation offering training in performing arts. They currently hold certifications for Certificate II in Dance, Certificate IV in Dance, Certificate IV in Musical Theatre, and Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts with a choice of Major (Commercial Dance) or (Musical Theatre).
