This qualification is part of the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. It reflects the role of employees such as production operators in an open cut mine or quarry, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education. Prerequisites may apply to some elective units.

Structure:

13 units: 3 core; 10 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures; Identify and assess environmental and heritage concerns; Apply risk management processes. Electives: Communicate information; Communicate workplace information; Comply with site work processes/procedures; Maintain and monitor site quality standards; Conduct surface blast hole drilling operations; Set up and prepare for open cut drilling operations; Conduct down-hole hammer drilling; Store, handle and transport explosives; plus more.

There are both licensed and non-licensed units of competency relating to high risk work in the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. To be appointed under any statutory requirements in related roles, units of competency should be selected to meet the state/territory licensing requirements.
