The Long Tan Bursary is government-funded through the Department of Veterans' Affairs. The Long Tan Bursary is specifically for children of Vietnam Veterans who are Australian citizens and permanent residents, planning or undertaking full-time study.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must: be children of an Australian Vietnam veteran; be under 25 years of age; be living permanently in Australia; be planning to enrol in the first year of full-time tertiary education in Australia, in an approved course of 1 or more years' duration (eligible tertiary education includes vocationally-oriented courses, such as those offered by universities, TAFE institutions, business colleges and art schools); be in difficult family circumstances including financial circumstances (eligibility is assessed on the same financial grounds as Youth Allowance educational benefits); and not be previous recipients of a Long Tan Bursary.
