This qualification is part of the Community Services Training Package. It reflects the role of youth justice workers who supervise young people who have been directed by the justice system to be in the care and direction of authorised community and/or government agencies.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education


15 units: 8 core; 7 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Use targeted communication skills to build relationships; Identify and respond to children and young people at risk; Support the progress and development of young people; Work in the youth justice environment; Support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people in youth justice system; Respond to critical situations; Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers; Participate in WHS. Electives: Provide supervision in the community; Work effectively with clients with complex alcohol and/or other drug issues; Undertake case management; Provide support services to clients; Implement a case work strategy; Facilitate links with other services; plus more.

Further information:

A satisfactory police check will be required at the expense of the student prior to commencing a vocational work placement or gaining employment. Most organisations also require Child Safe Environments and Senior First Aid Certificates.
