This qualification is part of the Community Services Training Package. It reflects the role of educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs. In doing so they support the implementation of an approved learning framework. They may work under direct supervision or autonomously. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

Australian YMCA Institute of Education and Training is the Registered Training Organisation division of the YMCA. The Institute delivers a wide range of accredited courses for YMCA staff and volunteers. Some programs are available to members of the community. The Institute manages the delivery of its accredited training through campuses in Welshpool, Perth (YMCA Perth), Brisbane (YMCA Brisbane), and Parramatta, Sydney (YMCA Sydney).
