This qualification is part of the Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair Training Package. It reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of heavy commercial vehicles in the automotive service and repair sector.

Entry Requirements:

You must be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts to a level required to complete Year 10.


36 units: 22 core; 14 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Diagnose and repair heavy vehicle air braking systems; Diagnose and repair heavy commercial vehicle steering systems; Diagnose and repair heavy vehicle drive shaftsl; Diagnose and repair heavy vehicle emission control systems; Diagnose and repair heavy vehicle compression ignition engines; Diagnose and repair heavy commercial vehicle suspension systems; Carry out servicing operations; plus more and electives.

If you are entering these programs as a trainee or apprentice, you must be employed in the relevant industry prior to enrolment. If you are not an apprentice or trainee, you must obtain permission from the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology before you can enrol.

Established in 1997, Axial Training is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that offers traineeship and apprenticeship trade training, business qualifications and a range of short courses and inductions. Axial offers traineeships and apprenticeships in the areas of: business, meat retail, engineering and automotive. Axial also provides training in mine inductions and site safety, first aid and Safely Access the Rail Corridor (SARC).
