This qualification is part of the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package. It provides a pathway to work as a guide in many tourism industry sectors. Guides at this level usually work in particular areas or sites, including attractions, cultural and heritage sites, tourist precincts, marine and national parks, wineries, or on board day or extended cruise vessels. It reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed guiding skills combined with a substantial depth of subject matter knowledge to deliver tours. They work with some independence and under limited supervision using discretion and judgement to resolve problems.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education


13 units: 9 core; 4 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Provide service to customers; Develop and maintain the general and regional knowledge required by guides; Show social and cultural sensitivity; Prepare and present tour commentaries or activities; Identify hazards, assess and control safety risks; Lead tour groups; Work as a guide; plus more. Electives: Conduct a product tasting for alcoholic beverages; Interpret aspects of local Australian Indigenous culture; Conduct routine oral communication in a language other than English; Provide advice on Australian destinations; plus more.
