This qualification is part of the Creative Arts and Culture Training Package. It reflects the role of individuals who combine technical, creative and conceptual skills to create designs that meet client requirements and solve a range of visual communication challenges. Practice at this level is underpinned by application of design theory and practice and the ability to analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources to generate design solutions. Practitioners may work in many different commercial and community contexts across both print and digital media.

Entry Requirements:

Formal study in a field related to graphic design; or demonstrated knowledge of the industry through personal or work experience


19 units: 9 core; 10 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Develop and extend design skills and practice; Refine drawing and other visual representation tools; Research visual communication history and theory; Produce graphic designs for 2D and 3D applications; Produce typographic design solutions; Create and manipulate graphics; Design and manipulate complex layouts; Develop graphic design practice to meet industry needs; Present a body of own creative work. Electives: Refine 3D design ideas and processes; Work with photomedia in creative practice; Create visual design components; Coordinate the testing of interactive media products; Design e-learning resources; plus more.
