The Graduate Diploma of Nutrition is designed to build on undergraduate studies in the health and related sciences to develop specialist knowledge, skills and attitudes relating to human nutrition and health. Successful graduates from this diploma program are well-placed to progress to further studies via the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice to become qualified as a dietitian and receive full credit for subjects studied in this program. This program is a useful pre-medical program for graduates with ambitions to enter post-graduate medical programs, as a pathway into postgraduate specialisation in nutrition or for internationally-educated dietitians requiring professional updates before applying for Australian qualification recognition.

Entry Requirements:

An undergraduate degree in health science or other related degree; specific coursework required; plus transcripts of primary degree and specific subject outlines; as well as an interview. Eligible undergraduate programs at Bond University are the Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Bachelor of Health Sciences or Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science

Successful graduates from the Graduate Diploma are well-placed to progress to further studies in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice to become qualified as a dietitian. Subjects completed in the Graduate Diploma are credited to the Master program.

Recognition:

Graduates of this degree may be eligible for registration as an 'Associate Nutritionist' and following three years of relevant work experience can apply for 'Registered Nutritionist' status. Please refer to the Nutrition Society of Australia for details. If students are seeking qualifications to become a dietitian, then refer to the Bond University Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice.

Located on Queensland’s Gold Coast, between the picturesque mountains of the hinterland and some of Australia’s best beaches, the campus is set on a 50-hectare site just an hour’s drive from Brisbane. It features a range of recreational facilities, a lake and iconic buildings, which include on-campus student residences. The university’s practical learning facilities are equally impressive and have been designed to prepare students for the workplace. Bond’s undergraduate courses are offered through the Bond Business School, the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Society and Design. Each faculty offers single and combined degrees covering a broad range of disciplines and specialties, including interesting pairings such as law with actuarial science, biomedical science or commerce. The university’s undergraduate courses include a compulsory core curriculum, comprising four areas: Critical Thinking and Communication, Leadership and Team Dynamics, Ethical Thought and Action, and Beyond Bond: Professional Development and Community Engagement. 

Bond University recently launched The Transformer — an Australian-first program aimed at teaching big picture thinking, creative problem solving and evidence-based decision making. This co-curricular program is designed to encourage exploration, enable innovation and enhance entrepreneurial skills.

Bond offers plenty of flexibility to help accommodate students’ interests. It pioneered the three-semester-per-year (trimester) timetable, which allows students to accelerate their studies and complete an undergraduate degree in two years.

A range of programs and events provides prospective students with insight into university life. Student for a Semester gives high-achieving Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to enrol into a Bond subject, attend lectures and tutorials, and even submit assessments. Students who successfully complete the program will be granted credit towards a Bond undergraduate degree. For students seeking an accessible pathway to study, the Bond University Preparation Program is a two-semester course providing guaranteed entry into a range of undergraduate programs. 

As a private university, Bond charges full fees for its courses. It is also a not-for-profit organisation, which means that 100 per cent of the tuition fees are reinvested into the university. Domestic students may defer their tuition fees through the federal government’s FEE-HELP loan scheme. 

Bond emphasises globally focused and industry-specific course content and makes internships available across a number of disciplines, both in Australia and overseas. The university has developed industry relationships through graduate placements, research partnerships and its scholarships, and also encourages global mobility among students. Bond currently has more than 80 university partnerships in 25 countries, allowing students to diversify their academic and cultural experience.
