Completed in just one year, a Master of Finance qualification from Bond University prepares students for an executive career in finance, commercial banks, insurance sectors, property investment, superannuation funds, stockbrokers and corporate treasuries. Students also have the opportunity to gain Bloomberg certification and unlock their potential for more job opportunities in the financial industry. Students who have successfully completed cognate undergraduate programs may be eligible for advanced standing of up to 40 credit points towards the Master of Finance program. When students successfully complete the program they will meet the requirements for professional accreditation with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (RG146 compliance). The Master of Finance at Bond has been accepted into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program, meaning students are well prepared for the CFA exams.

Entry Requirements:

Entry into the Master of Finance requires the completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognised institution, and completion of a subject deemed equivalent to either Fundamentals of Finance or Managerial Finance within the last seven years. A personal interview may also be required.

Core Subjects: Derivative Products; Personal Investment; Corporate Finance; Investments; Capital Markets; International Financial Management; Finance. Elective Subjects (Choose 4): Financial Accounting; Auditing; Security Appraisal and Valuation; Information Analysis and Systems; Management Accounting and Strategy; Mathematical Statistics; Business Internship; Macroeconomics; Finance Applications and Analysis; Behavioural Finance; Advanced Funds Management; Mergers and Acquisitions; Financial Trading Systems. Students must also complete two (2) approved elective subjects.

Located on Queensland’s Gold Coast, between the picturesque mountains of the hinterland and some of Australia’s best beaches, the campus is set on a 50-hectare site just an hour’s drive from Brisbane. It features a range of recreational facilities, a lake and iconic buildings, which include on-campus student residences. The university’s practical learning facilities are equally impressive and have been designed to prepare students for the workplace. Students have access to teaching areas such as film and television studios, a psychology clinic, a legal skills centre modelled on the High Court of Australia, industry-standard financial trading facilities, various science laboratories, and clinical skills rooms with hospital-standard equipment for students of health science and medicine disciplines. 

Bond’s undergraduate courses are offered through the Bond Business School, the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Society and Design. Each faculty offers single and combined degrees covering a broad range of disciplines and specialties, including interesting pairings such as law with actuarial science, biomedical science or commerce. The university’s undergraduate courses include a compulsory core curriculum, comprising four areas: Critical Thinking and Communication, Leadership and Team Dynamics, Ethical Thought and Action, and Beyond Bond: Professional Development and Community Engagement. 

Bond University recently launched The Transformer — an Australian-first program aimed at teaching big picture thinking, creative problem solving and evidence-based decision making. This co-curricular program is designed to encourage exploration, enable innovation and enhance entrepreneurial skills.

Bond offers plenty of flexibility to help accommodate students’ interests. It pioneered the three-semester-per-year (trimester) timetable, which allows students to accelerate their studies and complete an undergraduate degree in two years.

A range of programs and events provides prospective students with insight into university life. Student for a Semester gives high-achieving Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to enrol into a Bond subject, attend lectures and tutorials, and even submit assessments. Students who successfully complete the program will be granted credit towards a Bond undergraduate degree. For students seeking an accessible pathway to study, the Bond University Preparation Program is a two-semester course providing guaranteed entry into a range of undergraduate programs. 

As a private university, Bond charges full fees for its courses. It is also a not-for-profit organisation, which means that 100 per cent of the tuition fees are reinvested into the university. Domestic students may defer their tuition fees through the federal government’s FEE-HELP loan scheme. 

Bond emphasises globally focused and industry-specific course content and makes internships available across a number of disciplines, both in Australia and overseas. The university has developed industry relationships through graduate placements, research partnerships and its scholarships, and also encourages global mobility among students. Bond currently has more than 80 university partnerships in 25 countries, allowing students to diversify their academic and cultural experience.
