This process plant course is an advanced post-trade qualification for industry professionals looking to advance their career standing and/or progress to university studies.It is a technical qualification for technologists or para-professionals who undertake technical projects such as plant modifications, energy and mass balances, risk management & safety cases either individually or as part of a project team where they have a significant technical role. They may have worked their way up through the process plant operation/technology certificate and diploma qualifications or may have entered the industry at this level, either from another industry or trade occupation.The Advanced Diploma is accredited by Engineers Australia, the largest and most diverse professional body for engineers in the nation. It is eligible for advanced standing at Edith Cowan University (1.5 years) or Curtin University (1 year). The course has been developed specifically for people experienced in the industry to gain a qualification based on work experience or prior studies. It is not offered as classroom based delivery.As part of the course, you will be assessed on your current competencies in areas of petrochemicals, hydrocarbons, chemical, metal/ore processing, oil, gas, smelting, refining, maintenance and manufacturing using Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).  RPL can allow you to fast track through the course if you consider that your previous work experience or other studies cover the subject matters of units within the PMA Process Plant Operations Training Package.RPL FEES: Completion of this course by RPL costs around $2100 depending on the units selected. Your assessor can give you a clear indication of the fees that apply to your appropriate unit selection. Box Hill Industry assessors can assist you to gain recognition for your current knowledge and skills in petrochemical, oil and gas or manufacturing industries. The qualification will allow you to position yourself in the marketplace for career opportunities by acquiring the qualifications that employers are looking for.

It is expected that you will have worked for many years in a leadership or highly technical role to qualify.PRE-TRAINING REVIEWTo assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Structure

  • You will be required to to complete 15 units (4 core and 11 electives from Lists A and B).&nbsp
  • You must choose electives as follows:7 units from Lists A, B and C and a minimum of 1 from List AThe remainder may be chosen from Lists A and B (with a maximum of 1 from List E and a maximum of 2 from List F) to bring the total number of electives to 11
