In our animal technology course you’ll learn about ensuring the well-being of animals, routine animal husbandry, basic non-surgical techniques, using anaesthesia in animals and animal breeding.

You will need to be able to supply evidence of a current tetanus vaccination, completed Year 11 (or above) or be mature age.PRE-TRAINING REVIEWTo assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

This course is government accredited and has national recognitionThe qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 5 After successful completion of our animal technology course, you can apply for the Bachelor of Animal & Veterinary Biosciences at La Trobe University and may be eligible to receive up to 120 credit points towards your degree. Following the Bachelor, you can then apply for entry into veterinary science or alternative degree courses.There are also pathways into Deakin University.
