Our Diploma Interior Design and Decoration helps you kick off your journey to becoming an interior design professional, covering both residential (involving styling, interior decorating, fabrics and furnishing) and commercial (working in retail, offices, restaurants and hotels) interior design. You will develop technical and practical skills including: interpreting clients brief, research and analysis, planning and designing space, decoration and/interior styling, selecting finishes and furnishings, colour theory and lighting, use of CAD to communicate design solutions, supplier specifications and purchasing and sustainable work practices.

You must have:successfully completed Year 12 orbe mature agePRE-TRAINING REVIEWTo assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Employment may be found in retail, consulting or building businesses, where you will perform a broad range of skilled applications in furnishing, including requirements to evaluate and analyse current conditions, develop new criteria and provide guidance to builders, clients and customers direct.
