You must first enrol in and complete the Graduate Diploma of Music to qualify to continue on to the Master of Music. You will become an artistic leader through your practice, capable of solving complex artistic music issues and problems in industry-relevant contexts.

You must have successfully completed either:the Graduate Diploma of Music (Contemporary Practice)an Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a related disciplinehave a high level ability in a field of music, comparable to a student with a completed undergraduate degree with a major in that field of music 

Structure

The Graduate Diploma of Music (Contemporary Practice) serves as the first 8 subjects (6 core units and 2 electives) of the Master of Music (Contemporary Practice), which is a further 5 subjects. All students must first enrol in and complete the Graduate Diploma of Music to qualify to continue on to the Masters of Music.

Standard entry requirements

Direct entry (application dates are January and June)Entry to the course is by interview with the Course Coordinator. Please email MusicAdmin@boxhill.edu.au to arrange for an interview. The interview can be in person or via Skype, if needed. In the interview, the structure of the courses will be discussed and the student will be asked how they feel their background and experiences would mesh with the course content. Any work the candidate brings in to demonstrate their competency and areas of interest will be listened to and evaluated sympathetically. Since this course depends on each student developing their own unique interests and abilities, it's not possible to specify a common advanced standard for admission (apart from basic competencies), but in consultation with the course coordinator, any gaps in the student's preparation will be identified, and remedial activities suggested. .
