This qualification is part of the Creative Arts and Culture Training Package. It reflects the role of a skilled operator in the television and radio broadcasting and allied industries, who applies a broad range of competencies associated with selection, procurement, installation and maintenance of equipment and software in a varied work context using some and discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education. Prerequisite units may apply to some electives.


15 units: 4 core; 11 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Work effectively in the creative arts industry; Contribute to health and safety of self and others; Run standard diagnostic tests; Migrate to new technology. Electives: Install and test lighting equipment; Prepare video material for television transmission; Perform basic transmission operations; Work effectively as an off-site worker; Determine and action network problems; Use power tools/hand held operations; plus more.

Further information:

Radio frequency workers must complete an electromagnetic emissions (EME) awareness course. Individuals required to attend sites with substantial EME hazards (such as a broadcast transmission sites) must understand the risks of EME and the necessary precautions to mitigate the risks.
