27 units: 21 core; 6 elective

Core: Carry out setting out; Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry; Plan and organise work; Conduct workplace communication; Carry out measurements and calculations; Read and interpret plans and specifications; Apply basic levelling procedures; Erect and dismantle restricted height scaffolding; Carry out basic demolition; Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry; Handle and prepare bricklaying and blocklaying materials; Use bricklaying and blocklaying tools and equipment; Carry out masonry veneer construction; Construct curved walls; plus more and electives.

Further information:

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.

Established in 2001, Building Skills Centre is a Registered Training Organisation. The Centre provides training for apprentices in the construction industry in Central and South West Victoria. Training is provided at the student's worksite and off-the-job at local training facilities. The Building Skills Centre delivers Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying, Carpentry, Carpentry and Joinery, Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Solid Plastering, Wall and Ceiling lining and Wall and Floor Tiling.
