This qualification is part of the Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package. It provides general skills and knowledge in amenity horticulture.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education. Prerequsite units may apply to some electives.

Structure:

16 units: 5 core; 11 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Contribute to work health and safety processes; Provide information on plants and their culture; Control weeds; Control plant pests, diseases and disorders; Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas. Electives: Implement a tree maintenance program; Perform pruning operations; Install cable and bracing; Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs; Monitor and review biosecurity measures; Measure irrigation delivery system performance; Construct landscape features using concrete; Receive and dispatch nursery products; Report on health and condition of trees; plus more.

Established in 1993, Byron Community College (formerly ACE Mullumbimby) is a community-managed Registered Training Organisation. The College provides adult and community education programs for the Byron Shire including the towns of Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads and Bangalow. The provider also offers training and staff development for business and community organisations.
