This qualification is part of the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package. It reflects the role of individuals who perform a limited range of tasks relating to identifying and inspecting mechanical and electrical components and systems of light vehicles, heavy vehicles, outdoor power equipment, bicycles, marine craft and motorcycles. This qualification also covers the skills and knowledge required to perform minor maintenance and repair of an automotive vehicle body. The range of technical skills and knowledge is limited.

12 units; 7 core; 5 elective

Core: Follow environmental and sustainability best practice in an automotive workplace; Resolve routine problems in an automotive workplace; Follow safe working practices in an automotive workplace; Identify automotive mechanical systems and components; plus more. Electives: Remove, repair and refit bicycle tyres; Remove, refit and adjust bicycle accessories; Inspect heavy vehicle battery storage systems; Remove and replace motorcycle components and accessories; Carry out wet run tests on vessel outboard engines; plus more.
