Charles Darwin University (CDU)

This qualification is part of the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package. It reflects the role of individuals who use a range of well-developed events administration or operational skills and knowledge to complete event-related work activities. It provides a pathway to work for event or exhibition organisations operating in a range of industries including the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural and community sectors.

Entry Requirements:

Year 10 or equivalent.

Structure:

13 units: 6 core; 7 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Work effectively with others; Source and use information on the events industry; Process and monitor event registrations; Provide service to customers; Show social and cultural sensitivity; Participate in safe work practices. Elective: Coordinate on-site event registrations; Provide event staging support; Book supplier products and services; Use a computerised reservations or operations system; plus more.

Further information:

Applicants must possess Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication, and numeracy skills to successfully complete this program. Students who do not possess these skills to the level required will be enrolled in additional subjects to build the required skills. Students entering as an apprentice or trainee must be employed in the relevant industry prior to enrolment.

Charles Darwin University is the major tertiary education and vocational education and training institution in the Northern Territory.

Originally established as a tertiary institution in 1974, it became the Northern Territory University in 1989 and Charles Darwin University in 2003.

The main University campus is located at Casuarina in Darwin with campuses at Alice Springs, Katherine and Palmerston. VET courses are also offered at Jabiru, Nhulunbuy, Tennant Creek and Yulara Centres as well as at various remote community centres.

The University provides multi-sector education with Senior Secondary, VET, Higher Education and Research facilities.

CDU also deliver a number of courses through the Australian Centre for Indigenous Knowledges and Education (ACIKE), which is a joint initiative between Charles Darwin University (CDU) and the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE). The three main sites for delivery will be at the main ACIKE Hub CDU Casuarina campus and at the BIITE campuses at Batchelor and the Alice Springs Desert Peoples' Centre.
