The Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education) will give students the understandings, skills and confidence to be an effective secondary school teacher of personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE). Students will develop a diversity of skills that can be applied widely - in schools, community health education, sport and recreation administration, the fitness industry and coaching.

Year 12 or equivalent


Students must complete 264 points or 33 subjects. To graduate with the Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education) (Honours), students must satisfactorily complete 280 points.

Honours year is available. Charles Sturt University frequently recognises prior learning including study at other institutions in many of its degrees. Each request for credit is individually assessed prior to the commencement of the course.

Further information:

All students must undergo a criminal record check prior to placement in schools. This degree will also enable students to seek employment within the recreation and fitness industries and within sporting associations and government departments such as the Department of Sport and Recreation. The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) set graduate standards and course requirements which are administered by the NSW Institute of Teachers. All students who graduate from this course must meet the prerequisite standard of literacy.
