Orange is located in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, 260 kilometres west of Sydney. Situated at the foot of Mt. Canobolas, the highest point between the Blue Mountains, Orange sits amidst picturesque hills and valleys. Orange, population around 38,000, is a progressive city with a friendly country atmosphere. Residents enjoy many commercial and recreational facilities along with excellent retail, sporting, educational and health services. Orange comes alive on the weekend with a range of entertainment venues, pubs and night clubs.
As a way of making friends, CSU encourages first-year students to live on-campus or in the Canobolas student accommodation downtown. There are seven different types of accommodation and six alternative payment plans. After the first year, most students form groups and share flats, townhouses or houses in Orange - which is situated about six kilometres from the campus. Students living on campus have the best of both worlds: an intimate campus surrounded by breath-taking scenery, and lecture rooms are only a two-minute walk away. Those living at the Canobolas can enjoy walking out the front door to a thriving rural community supplying all the services of a metropolitan centre. It's a small campus compared to other institutions, but with that comes a stronger sense of community.
